The story behind Foundation
In 2011, Shinto changed the way I understood food.
When my dog Shinto was diagnosed with cancer, I moved her from traditional dry food to canned food and then to raw food. Raw food initially helped stabilize her, but over time I felt that her body was not receiving the complete nutritional support it needed.
I began watching the signals her body gave me: the clarity of her eyes, staining around her mouth or hindquarters, urinary changes, appetite, digestion and energy. Those observations became the beginning of the first four Shinto's formulas.
My observation: I use these outward changes as information about how a dog may be responding to its food. They guide what we try next and when the proportions may need to change.
